Why is the Ferndale blogging now? Well, it’s pretty easy:
We have things to say!
Not only will we announce our new specials here, we will also start telling you some of our secrets, as we did in our first Newsletter.
Recipes
Probably, the most interesting thing will be our recipes database.
Flavour is our passion, spices are our delight. We believe you can travel the world just by using the right ingredients and spices and we are not talking of McDonnells Curry Sauce.
Did you actually know that Curry is not a spice in itself? It is a generic term, and although there is no one specific attribute that marks a dish as curry, some distinctive spices used in many, (though certainly not all) curry dishes include turmeric, cumin, coriander, fenugreek, and red pepper. The word curry is generally believed to be an Anglicised version of the Tamil word kari. It is usually understood to mean ‘gravy’ or ‘sauce’, rather than ‘spices’. (See Wikipedia, Curry, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curry (as of May. 18, 2009, 17:24 GMT))
Wines
You want to know more about wine? Very good. Check out our wines database…
We will never pretend to build a fully comprehensive wine list. We will tell you about the wines we like and we will recommend to you whatever we think is best with our recipes. Maybe we will even add a little shop later, but this is just an idea. What do you think?
